Awesome fun game.. Really great game.. An old favorite, build a city from the ground up and spread it. A pleasent time waster in that its fun only up until you build yourself the biggest stuff then it gets rather dull. Still wait for a discount and you wont be disapointed.. Still one of my favorites.... This is my favorite city building game of all time. That being said, while I do recommend this game I think that only history buffs and fans of Ancient Egypt will get the most enjoyment out of this.. A strong succesor to the likes of Pharoh, Children of the Nile is an engrossing city-builder that's never frustrating: you always know what you're doing wrong, and typically how to fix it. While it plays easily on modern machines which are, compared to what it was built for, supercomputers, it's graphics do occaisionally have issues with rendering properly on current generation hardware and software. Additionally, it's lack of proper (or at least, lack of an obvious) window mode can be maddening. Still, its fun, appealing to the little civil-planning autocrat in all of us who think that, had we been in charge of city planning, we'd have done a better job.. An excellent game to remind us of the wonders of an earlier game: Pharaoh.As an ancient historian I think this game is rather excellent. The history is there, I like all of the features of the game, and the way the town has to be made is logical. The gathering of resources could not have been done any more correctly and I really like making all these pyramids for no good reason at all!I like the graphics, the music (though I turned it off in favour of my own music), and the whole mechanics of the game.I did not however, like the many bugs present in the game. People get stuck between buildings trying to go past them, which is VERY annoying, sometimes the workers just dont do what you want them to do; for example I wanted to store basalt for a later project and it turned out that I can only mine basalt if Im going to immediately use it. wth.But conclusively, I recommend this game, its great fun and has a relatively good tutorial which can be followed, not to mention all the awesome decorations you can put up ^_^
